A long, literary walk through the Alpujarras

As a travel content writer, I'm always looking for my next story. I've long been fascinated by the Alpujarras, a series of whitewashed villages clinging to the southern slopes of Spain's Sierra Nevada. Originally built by the Moors as they fled the fall of Granada in 1492, these villages were later the retreats for writers like Gerald Brenan and Chris Stewart. Following in their footsteps, I discovered a perfect mountain hideaway with endless walking routes and a sense of timeless tradition. But a closer look reveals communities still very much alive, following the rhythms of the seasons on the sun-bleached mountainsides.
