When I think about it, my whole career has been about storytelling.
Following an initial foray into PR, working with consumer and corporate brands, I retrained as a journalist, and the adventure began. I spent 10 happy, hectic years writing for UK newspapers from The Times to the Daily Mail, and the Telegraph to the Independent and the Guardian.
I was the travel editor at MailOnline and the launch editor for its native commercial initiative – now a great success across its UK, US, and Australian markets. At the Telegraph, I worked closely with brands as the commercial travel editor, spearheading national campaigns for everyone from British Airways and Virgin Holidays to American Express and Visa.
Fascinated by the world of branding, I joined the international creative agency DAf as head of content, helping wine and spirits brands define their message and personality. I created brand stories, brand names, video scripts, and taglines, incorporating analysis and content marketing strategy for maximum impact and conversion. We created new product launch campaigns for Casillero del Diablo, Osborne, and Torres, and even developed a new brand of rice spirits called J.T. Meleck.
Today, I run my own content marketing agency, SGContent, working with brands around the world. I also consult with companies who want that unique blend of strategy and creativity to develop and share their stories.
